Finis is for everyone who writes. Here is what works today with the accessibility features of the Mac and iPad, and what improves with the next update. Checked on 30 October 2026, with Finis 1.0.1.
Dark interface
In Settings › Interface choose Light, Sepia, Dark or the system’s appearance. In Dark the whole app turns dark: the page, the sidebar, the panels, the sheets and the Library, on Mac and iPad.
Reduced motion
Finis has no parallax, spinning or zooming animations. With Reduce Motion on, the typewriter scrolling and the choice of view change without animating.
Larger text
On iPad the panels follow the text size chosen in iPadOS, up to twice as large. The page has its own size, in Settings › Page, as on the Mac (from 13 to 21 points there). With Finis 1.0.2 the iPad’s page reaches 40 points, more than twice the standard size.
Contrast
The text of the page is at least 9.6:1 on its paper, in Light, Sepia and Dark. With Finis 1.0.2, when Increase Contrast is on, the secondary words, the prompts of the search fields, the Markdown marks and the terracotta also reach at least 4.5:1.
VoiceOver
The page is the system’s own text view: VoiceOver reads, writes and edits as in any other app on the Mac and iPad, braille displays included. Finis 1.0.2 completes the rest: every control has its name, the choice of view reads as a single control, and the board’s cards and the outline’s rows can be chosen, opened and moved earlier or later with VoiceOver’s actions, without dragging.
Keyboard
On the Mac every command is in the menus, nearly all of them with a key. On an iPad with a keyboard the same commands are in the iPadOS menu bar.
